OOBN is a public benefit company and the FIRST for-profit small business incubator of a prison themed brand that assists those with a criminal past become successful entrepreneurs, get an education and find worthwhile employment.
As a public benefit corporation, OOBN is making a public declaration to help individuals impacted by the criminal justice system to become successful entrepreneurs, gain access to knowledge and information pertaining to business development, and at the very least, offer the possibility of obtaining employment through our network of entrepreneurs, who themselves, have been impacted by the criminal justice system.
The reality is that starting a business can be challenging. It can be even more challenging if you're trying to start a business after being released from prison. OOBN understands this and has put together a FREE program on business development. The main mission of this program is to try to assist each individual in reaching their personal goal in becoming a successful entrepreneur.
In addition, we have aligned ourselves with experienced and knowledgable strategic partners who will assist in this process of helping the entrepreneurs become successful. We understand that not everyone might be ready to start their own business, which is why we have aligned ourselves with other like-minded entrepreneurs who, themselves, have been affected by the criminal justice system and have the ability to provide an opportunity for employment.
If you are serious about pursuing your passion to become an entrepreneur, our initial requirement is that we encourage you to be creative, have a good work ethic, and to have a passionate drive and focus for your project. OOBN will provide the team work.
How do we do this?
After receiving information on the individual and their project, our experienced staff evaluates the project to see if it's viable for us to move forward with the project. Here we would review with the individual the potential possibilities that we see, as well as well as any deficiencies or hurdles they might encounter.
If we need to, we would bring in our strategic partners to assess the project with us. It's all about team work.
What if the project isn't viable for OOBN?
If the project "isn't" a viable project for OOBN, or our partners, we inform the individual of why and make some recommendations that could possibly assist them in their business endeavors.
In addition, at this point in the process, OOBN would offer them participation in our FREE Entrepreneurship Program, where they can go through a specifically designed curriculum to gain the business knowledge they require to improve their project.
The process is not done, yet!
The last step is to evaluate the progress of the individual and their project IF they've completed the Entrepreneurship Program.
OK, so what If the project is viable for OOBN. Then what?
Simply, we "roll-up" our sleeves and start working with the individual to implement a business strategy. This could be in the form of a business plan, creating a pitch deck, marketing strategy, website development, branding, making business introductions, explaining the importance of developing strategic relationships, understanding corporate structure, helping to identify funding options and understanding sustainability and growth as they pertain to business, just to name a few.
After the assessment period, OOBN may then consider bringing in certain strategic partners, depending upon the project needs. Together, OOBN and our strategic partners will work with the individual to assist them in becoming a successful entrepreneur.
Finally, we stay with the individual and monitor their progress quarterly until we feel they are on a successful path to becoming profitable.
Each project is unique and the cost really depends on the project, itself. Some of our services are for free (ie: Entrepreneurship Program, business monitoring), while for some services OOBN will charge a flat fee. If there is a fee, it will be comparable to the industry standard that pertains to the specific project.
In addition, OOBN does utilize our network of strategic partners. Those partners may provide a service that will require a cost associated with it. However, that will be communicated to the individual before any work is initiated, and any such charge will be completely separate from OBBN.
